New England Patriots
Jimmy Garoppolo will be the Patriots' quarterback in 2021.
This banks on the 49ers being willing to part with Garoppolo, a combination of his $25 million salary and injury history leading them to consider potential upgrades in an offseason when the QB shuffle across the NFL could be intriguing. If they do, it makes sense to think the Patriots would be at the front of the line to bring Garoppolo, who was the original succession plan to Tom Brady, back to New England. -- Mike Reiss

As long as there is pain in the wrist we have to keep him back," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters in his pregame press conference. "We'll have to watch him over the next week and see how he does and hopefully the pain will subside."
Wiseman injured his wrist on January 30 against the Detroit Pistons when he landed awkwardly on his arm after an alley-oop attempt. Originally, it was said he would be re-evaluated in seven to 10 days. On Tuesday, Kerr said if Wiseman's scans looked good, he could be ready to go on Saturday when the Warriors host the Brooklyn Nets.
But now he will be out at least another week as the Warriors monitor his pain.
The first test is self-administered, and must be sent back at least 72 hours before the game.
"They will send it into the lab. Presumably, they will be a negative result, and we will let them know they are clear to come," said John Abbamondi, the CEO for BSE Global, which is the parent company of the Nets and Barclays Center.
Once at the door of the stadium, fans will be tested again — just like how it was handled in Buffalo for the Bills playoff game. This second test comes with rapid results back in six minutes. Staff at the arena have to go through the same testing requirements as well.
Capacity will be capped at 10 percent, which applies to New York's other massive sporting venues, like Citi Field, Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden. Masks and social distancing will be required at all those facilities as well.
Back in Brooklyn, the experience inside at the game will be wildly different than going to see a game in the past. All concession stands will be closed, with all food and drinks being brought to fans in specialized seating.
"Some of our seating areas we built into mini suites," said Abbamondi. "In the seating bowl, there are some bar stools and a couch and plexiglass walls on either side to create a little bubble."
Going to any game won't be cheap: The bare minimum costs to attend Nets game for now will be $200, just for the costs of the tests. And that's completely separate from the cost of the ticket.
"Fans are craving to come back and watch live sports, and we have to reinvent the arena experience to adapt for the pandemic, and that's what we are trying to do," Abbamondi said.
Tickets will be offered to season ticket holders first, with lots of interest already brewing. The game against the Kings — a matchup between two fairly middling teams, with little star power on the other side — is nearly sold out
But the team I keep coming back to is the 49ers. If you’re Kyle Shanahan, you’ve seen two of the past three seasons go down the drain because of Jimmy Garoppolo injuries. Is your best option going forward really to pay Garoppolo $25.5 million with hopes that he stays healthy in 2021? Shanahan has to wonder what his offense would look like with a more talented, more durable quarterback like Watson. This feels like the spot to get very, very aggressive. Would other teams be able to beat an offer that included three first-round picks and Nick Bosa?
That might seem like a lot, but this could legitimately be the biggest trade in NFL history. Watson is 26 and coming off a season in which he completed 70.2 percent of his passes and averaged 8.9 yards per attempt (YPA) while playing for a train wreck of a franchise. His cap hit in 2021 for the 49ers would be just $10.54 million and could more easily allow them to bring back left tackle Trent Williams. Watson is under contract for $29.3 million per year for the next five seasons. That’s a bargain compared to the going rate for quarterbacks of his caliber. This would not be a cap-crippling contract to take on. And the 49ers already have weapons like George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk to surround Watson.
Nobody wants to give up draft picks, but if you’re the 49ers and you have Shanahan and Watson, you can figure the rest out. You’re ready to compete for the Super Bowl every year even if the defense takes a big step back. A godfather deal for Watson would make sense for a lot of teams, but the most exciting possibility is the 49ers.

B- THE SEAHAWKS AREN’T SHUTTING DOWN WILSON RUMORS LIKE THE PACKERS DID RIGHT AWAY....
PETE CARROLL HAS A TWITTER.... WHY NOT SAY RUSS IS OUR GUY??

Has Russell Wilson asked the Seahawks to trade him?
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, that hasn’t happened yet. The source added this three-word characterization of the broader relationship: “All things fluid.”
Wilson’s contract carries a very affordable $19 million salary for 2021. But a trade before June 1 would result in the Seahawks carrying a $39 million cap charge in 2021. After June 1, a trade would trigger $13 million in 2021 and $26 million in 2022.
Wilson could wait to see whether and to what extent the team involves him in personnel matters during free agency and the draft before asking to be traded in May, with the goal of the transaction happening on or after June 2. By then, most if not all teams will have settled quarterback situations. Few quarterbacks like Wilson ever become available, however. If Wilson can be acquired on June 2, plenty of teams would gladly unbake their 2021 offseason cake.
Or Wilson, and the team, eventually could decide that the situation has become untenable, and that it makes sense for everyone to arrange a trade sooner than later, with the only question becoming whether the two teams will agree to delay making it official until after June 1.

TV DEAL ALMOST DONE — THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL LOOKING FOR A HOME —
CBS, NBC, and Fox all look set to hold on to their current packages, which limits the moving parts remaining. Those include ESPN’s rights, as well as the Thursday package, which remain up in the air.
One of the individuals suggested part of the holdup to finalizing a new agreement is the NFL finding a new home for the Thursday Night Football package, which Fox currently holds but could drop the deal when it ends in 2023.
There’s speculation a streaming service such as Amazon could bid on the package. But with Fox, CBS and NBC no longer interested in simulcasting the game on a third-party streaming service, Amazon would have to find another partner to produce the game.
There is a possibility that ESPN could take on the Thursday Night Football game and air the game on ABC. But that would mean helping a rival streaming service as it tries to grow its own ESPN+ offering.
Two of the people said all of the media rights deals would’ve been finalized in December had the Thursday package been resolved.
ESPN has also been hoping to find a way into the Super Bowl rotation for a while now, and may also want to include games on ABC. There’s also the issue of Sunday Ticket, which DirecTV looks likely to give up, at least as an exclusive offering. Beyond that, though, the league seems pretty much set, and they also have incentive to iron out the final package.
As Young notes, the league wants it done in order to finalize the salary cap ahead of this offseason:
The NFL is looking to finalize frameworks of new TV rights agreements in the next few weeks and wants to do so before setting the 2021 salary cap figure in March, according to people with knowledge of the situation.
