"I think the Matthew Stafford trade raised some alarms," Young told KNBR's "Tolbert, Krueger and Brooks." "Do you trust and do you want that relationship with Jimmy to continue or do you want to find that maybe younger, less expensive to open up that Super Bowl window? It feels like they got beat to the punch on the Matthew Stafford thing. I think the Rams just beat them. The Rams were amazing at getting that thing done. But I don't think the 49ers are going to miss anyone else.
"But they have to maintain that relationship with Jimmy because it might be that's what they want to do, and they don't want to feel like it's, 'Oh well, we ended up with Jimmy.' That's the wrong way to think about it. And it [helps] Jimmy to lean into his relationship with Kyle to show him that he can be trusted, and can be that guy that Kyle's seeking. And I don't know if there's a lot of ways to prove that other than on the field. But certainly, I wouldn't let any chance of conversation that I can have with Kyle, to go to his house and hang out with him I'd live at his house if I had to, to try to make sure was up to speed and develop that relationship.

"It was a windy day in Lubbock and I remember sitting or standing next to various NFL GMs and what not, and everybody's job was dropping because of what he was doing -- throwing the ball into the wind and he finished with like an 80-yard throw," Lynch said. "It was remarkable."
Lynch added that the 49ers had dinner with Mahomes, during which he saw some of the same personality traits that can be found in rare greats like Manning.
"He's an incredible kid," Lynch said. "We went to dinner with him and got to share and started to see that he had those other elements that we were talking about (regarding Man

First, that was the real trophy, not some replica or replacement given to players for partying purposes. Second, as Simms (who lived in Tampa) pointed out on Thursday’s PFT Live, the water in that area of the Hillsborough River is 80 feet deep.
If Brady had missed the mark, or if tight end Cameron Brate had failed to make the catch, down the trophy would have gone. Given the extent to which alcohol was flowing on the various boats in the parade, someone may have decided to jump in after it — not realizing that it was a long way to the bottom.

Patrick said on his show the day after Wilson’s appearance that he heard from a source that the Seahawks aren’t happy with Wilson for taking his frustrations public.
“A source told me that the Seahawks’ management is not happy with Russell Wilson and his camp for taking this to the media,” Patrick said. “You wonder if they’re going to be able to co-exist. . . . The current situation is not sustainable. That’s what I was told.”
If Wilson isn’t happy with the Seahawks, and the Seahawks aren’t happy with Wilson, a trade would make a lot of sense. The betting odds have the Raiders and the Cowboys as the most likely destinations for Wilson. There was a time when Wilson looked like he’d be the Seahawks’ franchise quarterback for many years to come, but they may now be heading for a divorce.

Average game score: 48.8 | Game score wins: 77
Projected rotation by starts made:
1. Chris Bassitt (GSc: 50.8 | GSc W-L: 16-15)
2. Sean Manaea (GSc: 51.4 | GSc W-L: 15-14)
3. Jesus Luzardo (GSc: 51.6 | GSc W-L: 16-13)
4. Frankie Montas (GSc: 51.3 | GSc W-L: 14-13)
5. Mike Fiers (GSc: 43.1 | GSc W-L: 7-12)
6. A.J. Puk (GSc: 45.5 | GSc W-L: 5-7)
Others: Daulton Jefferies, Paul Blackburn
Oakland has consistently managed to fashion a playable rotation no matter how underwhelming projections make them look. The need to do that might be diminishing, as the A's now have a group of young pitchers with a short track record who could add some needed dynamism to the normal professionalism of the Oakland rotation. Luzardo and Montas are both ascendant, with Luzardo perhaps on the verge of stardom. Jeffries should get some starts this season. Then there is the wild card: Fearsome lefty Puk will again try to establish himself after a string of injury setbacks. The A's won't push him too much this season, but Puk has the potential to give Oakland another ace-level starter. There are a lot of moving parts in this picture, which is why once again Billy Beane and David Forst turned to professional "known quantity" Fiers to add stability.
Projected rotation by starts made:
1. Kevin Gausman (GSc: 49.4 | GSc W-L: 14-15)
2. Johnny Cueto (GSc: 48.0 | GSc W-L: 14-15)
3. Logan Webb (GSc: 43.9 | GSc W-L: 11-18)
4. Alex Wood (GSc: 48.6 | GSc W-L: 13-14)
5. Anthony DeSclafani (GSc: 49.6 | GSc W-L: 11-11)
6. Sean Hjelle (GSc: 40.9 | GSc W-L: 5-9)
Others: Tyler Beede
The system doesn't love the Giants' rotation right now, but I suspect this is a moderate underrating of the San Francisco staff. The new Giants regime has done good work resuscitating veterans, and that's been true for both pitchers and hitters. Gausman is the prime example of that on the pitching side, and his decision to re-up with the Giants over the winter speaks well of the culture that's under construction. Cueto is another year removed from surgery and he too could be underrated by this projection. Also, Wood and DeSclafani are new to the program. On one hand, you want to point to that as a reason they might be in for some surprise improvement. On the other hand, they came over from the Dodgers and Reds, respectively, two clubs that have advanced pitching programs in place. Chances are this will be a capable, if unspectacular, Giants rotation.
LINE UP RANKS:
1. DODGERS
2. METS
3. ASTROS
4- YANKEES
5- JAYS
15-
15. San Francisco Giants

1. Donovan Solano (R)
2. Mike Yastrzemski (L)
3. Alex Dickerson (L)
4. Buster Posey (R)
5. Brandon Belt (L)
6. Brandon Crawford (L)
7. Evan Longoria (R)
8. Mauricio Dubon (R)
9. Pitcher (--)
Neutral runs: 751 | Lineup wins added: 1.0 | Best trait: Contact hitting | Worst trait: Team speed
If these numbers pan out, the Giants could end up as one of those teams with an underrated offense that ends up that way because its proficiency is obscured by a pitcher-friendly ballpark. It won't be as extreme as it has been for the Mets, as San Francisco's outlook is to be more mediocre than excellent at the plate, but that's better than being terrible, which is how it might look based on raw run projections.
The best thing about the Giants' lineup is the collective ability to put the ball in play and hit for average in a ballpark that is suited to that approach. Solano, Wilmer Flores, Dickerson and Yastrzemski all feature this approach, and Dubon has the potential to be another one. They will be bolstered by the return of Posey behind the plate.
These Giants don't figure to have a ton of power relative to the rest of the majors and they probably will finish last in stolen bases. And while contention for the 2021 Giants appears to be a long shot, the offensive attack could turn out to be quietly effective.
14. Oakland Athletics
1. Ramon Laureano (R)
2. Mark Canha (R)
3. Matt Chapman (R)
4. Matt Olson (L)
5. Sean Murphy (R)
6. Khris Davis (R)
7. Stephen Piscotty (R)
8. Chad Pinder (R)
9. Tony Kemp (L)
Neutral runs: 765 | Lineup wins added: 1.2 | Best trait: Homers | Worst trait: Strikeouts
It has never been easy to be a fan of the Athletics, baseball's vagabond franchise. These days, even when Oakland contends, its fans know the success will be followed by the ongoing cycle of productive, familiar veterans being replaced by more cost-efficient alternatives. But the A's will still be the A's. They'll hit homers, draw walks and strike out a bunch.
While it stinks that Semien is gone, the fact of the matter is that Oakland won the AL West last season even though he had a down season. Good regression from Chapman, Olson, Davis and Laureano can make up for the loss of Semien, Robbie Grossman and Tommy La Stella. Oakland is no stranger to this process of accounting for the loss of a newly enriched free agent
