While many have been lost for the season, others have missed significant time. One of those players is wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who suffered a Jones fracture during the offseason, missed the first three games, missed three more with a hamstring strain, and will likely miss the remainder of the season after re-aggravating the injury on Sunday.
Lynch hopes the 49ers can find a way for Samuel and his other players to work differently during the upcoming offseason and stay healthy in 2021.
"I watched him work out incredibly hard this offseason," Lynch explained, "and you see it now because these guys are [posting] videos. But Deebo generates so much force with every cut that he makes. I think we've got to help him find a way to work extremely hard but work smart as well because the one thing we know about Deebo, he's got a rare ability. And that combination, when you put will — which he has, I think we all see as a game-day competitor — with skill, and he's immensely talented and driven. So, when you combine that, if you can find a way to keep him on the field, you can be tough to deal with.
"Along with Deebo, we've got to find a way to do that, and we've got to be better in that area. Some of that is luck. Some of that is circumstance. But ultimately, we've got to find a way to have our guys more available because it certainly hurt this team this year. It hurts every team. In general, the league has had more injuries this year because of the circumstances of what's gone on with our not having a traditional offseason and whatnot, but it has affected us, I think, more so than more teams."
Lynch added that the 49ers intend to determine if much of this season's injury woes can be solely attributed to the difficult circumstances of 2020 or if the team needs to make changes to assure players remain healthy.

They need Wiseman’s size
The Warriors gave up 12 offensive rebounds to the Nuggets and 16, spread over two games, to the Kings. Nikola Jokic, Isaiah Hartenstein and Hassan Whiteside all had stretches in which their size and interior activity level went unmatched by the Warriors who, without Wiseman, their largest player, and Green, their most physical box-out artist, are too small
That was a problem last season, when the Warriors were in the bottom 10 in rebound rate and blocks. It was a problem again in the preseason. But it’s a problem they believe they solved in the draft. We’ll see.
Curry, Oubre and Wiggins – expected to be the team’s top three scorers – combined for 70 points in 83 minutes. They were as efficient as they were deadly, shooting a combined 48.0 percent from the field.
Wiggins had a terrific start, scoring 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting, including one attempt from distance, in the first seven minutes. He finished with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including 2-of-5 from deep, adding four rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
Wiggins was plus-14 for 31 minutes before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Wiggins and Oubre likely will be the primary variables that determining whether the Warriors struggle to reach the playoffs and cruise in and make some kind of run. They left some encouraging signs in this game.

-Saturday: Scrimmage that'll help determine Draymond/Wiseman
-Sunday: Fly to NYC
-Monday: Practice in NYC
-Tuesday: Opener in Brooklyn
Looney and Chriss both own wingspans beyond 7 feet, but they were no match for Whiteside’s sheer radius. His wingspan is 7-foot-7, his standing reach 9-foot-5. He had eight points, six rebounds and three blocks in 11 first-half minutes and finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Wiseman’s wingspan is 7-foot-6, his standing reach 9-foot-6. That’s enough to provide a strong response to a lot of physical matchups against centers far more skilled.

Saleh tips DeMeco Ryans for future as head coach
It’s almost a sure thing that Saleh leaves this offseason. Aside from Kansas City’s Eric Bienemy, Saleh is the hottest name on the head coaching market, and barring any league-wide stupidity (which is always in play), he should be a head coach next season.
If/when he leaves, the 49ers will need a replacement. One name that’s in play for the defensive coordinator spot is Ryans. The 36-year-old is in his third year as the inside linebackers coach and fourth with the team.
When asked if Ryans had the capability to take Saleh’s spot as defensive coordinator, Saleh went a step further, praising his attention to detail and the way he yearns for knowledge.
“DeMeco is well-spoken,” Saleh said. “He’s got a lot of respect from his players. He’s incredibly intelligent. He is a sponge for knowledge. Even though he’s played in this league—he’s been a Pro Bowler, he was Defensive Rookie of the Year—he still learns. I see him taking notes every day. Coach is talking, he’s taking notes. I’m talking, he’s taking notes. DB coach is talking, he’s taking notes. He is an absolute sponge in that regard, which tells you that he’s not just going to take a system and go, he’s going to evolve. So, because of that, I just think he’s got a really good chance to continue to evolve and be a head coach one day.”
Saleh pointed to the way Ryans has guided the 49ers’ very young linebacker group, providing the example of preparing Azeez Al-Shaair, who took over for Fred Warner at middle linebacker once Warner suffered a stinger on Sunday. He said Ryans helped Al-Shaair to play in that spot without blinking.
Ryans spoke to KNBR at the Super Bowl in February and said he’s learned a lot from run game specialist and outside linebackers coach Johnny Holland and that with his players, “I ride them hard.” He described having an intimate bond with his players.
“It’s special for me because it’s a very special group,” Ryans said in February. “Not just football, but for me, it’s all about off the field. Being a former player and having an insight being where these guys were and just being able to see them over the year, grow and develop as pros. I’ve been more proud of that; just seeing those guys grow as pros, from where they where they started where they are now. It’s just been a huge blessing, a huge honor to coach those guys.”
