49ERS:

-Kap puts house in San Jose on market for 2.9M

WOULD 49ERS FANS JUMP SHIP TO THE RIADERS --THE NFL THINKS SO........

For all the talk of the Raiders moving to Las Vegas, Breer expects the league to keep close tabs on Oakland’s proposal. That’s because the league wants to maintain a foothold in the North Bay area. Now that the 49ers have moved to Santa Clara, the league is hopeful that the Raiders could expand their fan base with the Bay’s affluent residents. It also helps that Oakland is easier to get to than Santa Clara. Recently, there has been word that the NFL would actually prefer to keep the Raiders in Oakland.

Where could Colin go: (Not making $14.9M anywhere else)

Jags: Jacksonville still will gives Borltes time.
Texans: Osweiller gets another year
Jets: Fitzpatrick, drafted Hackenberg in 2nd round, Geno Smith , Bryce Petty - Is Kap better than those guys?
Bears: Cutler gone, will draft in top 5
Browns - LIkely drafting #1
49ers: Likely drafting top 3

Back ups:
Cardinals: Back up Palmer, can't run Arians downfield throwing offense
Bills; Taylor?
Dolphins: Tannehill
Chiefs: Alex Smith
Ravens - Flacco, Harbaugh connection

Sets: pats, saints, raiders, Falcons, Pack, Cowboys, Seahawks, Lions, Steelers, Redskins, Chargers, Giants, Panthers, Ravens, Titans, Chiefs, Cardinals, Vikings, Bengals, Colts, Bucs, Bills, Eagles, Broncos,

Best places to start: Where would you go?

-Bears
-Browns
-49ers

But all three liekly to draft young QBs

Jags
Texans

Waiting one more year for those QBs to fall on their face again

Jets - None of those QBs can play
Dolphins - Tannehill not secure long term

Back up:
Cards - Good weapons, Palmer older
Chiefs - Run and play defense
Bills: Taylor is like Kap, good RB, defense

-Would fans jump to Oakland?

GAROPOLO SAFER THAN A COLLEGE QB ?

  • Jimmy Garoppolo would be the perfect quarterback for the Jets, but Patriots coach Bill Belichick would never let Gang Green have him, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily Newsopines. Garoppolo is expected to be dangled this offseason and could fetch a high price for the Pats in a trade. However, the Patriots know better than to let their divisional rivals get a promising 25-year-old quarterback. As Mehta notes, Garoppolo’s value is enhanced by an uninspiring 2017 quarterback draft class that will likely include Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer, North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky and Clemson’s DeShaun Watson. Also helping his value is that he is due to make only $820K in 2017. In 2018, the team that has him could apply the franchise tag and hold off on giving him an expensive long-term deal.

RINGER WRITES: "NO ONE LIKES LEVI'S STADIUUM" (STADIUM OR THE TEAM??)
"Perhaps the biggest issue with the stadium, though, is one that can’t be quantified. People just don’t like the damn stadium. It’s corporate, and fandom isn’t. Maybe the team will spend enough money to fix all the stadium’s logistical issues over the next three-plus decades. But it’s harder to fix a feeling, and there’s no telling whether fans will ever feel at home in the billion-dollar blunder."
Reasons given:
-Field is bad:  (Not this year)
-Sun is a problem (whaaahhhh)
-Traffic and parking (That's every stadium)
-SJ airport (Planes over head, never heard it as a complant)
-Expednsive (What sporting evenmt isn't?)
-Fan violence (Fel safer than the stick)
-Team stinks (And there's the real issue)

RAIDERS:

-Gronk out for season - How much does that help raiders? (A ton because Raiders can't cover TEs, let alone 2....

IF GRONK IS OUT - RAIDERS THE FAVORITE?

The Patriots and the family of Rob Gronkowski confirmed in a statement Thursday that the tight end will undergo back surgery Friday. The hope earlier Thursday was that Gronkowski would return during the playoffs, but that’s now in doubt. “We do not expect that he will be able to play for the remainder of the 2016 season, but will await the results of tomorrow’s surgery before making a final determination,” said the two parties (Twitter link).

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski needs back surgery, according to a source who spoke with Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News (on Twitter). The surgery is expected to keep Gronk out for eight weeks, which means that he will be out for the remainder of the regular season.

OF COURSE THE NFL IS WAITING UNTIL THE LAST DAY TO RULE ON ALDON SMITH

COMING UP WITH A PLAN IN OAKLAND OR MORE USELESS TALK?

WHERE ARE THE RAIDERS GETTING $1.3B

Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis might have his eyes set on moving his team to Las Vegas. But, that doesn’t mean keeping the franchise in Oakland has been ruled out.
There’s now a reported figure of what it would cost to keep the Raiders in the Bay Area. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the price tag for a new stadium in Oakland would cost $1.3 billion.
What might be more important is how that money is divided up as the city of Oakland and a private group led by Ronnie Lott attempt to keep the team in town. Fortress Investment Group would contribute $600 million to the project, Davis would put in $300 million, the NFL would commit $200 million and there would be $200 million funded publicly through the city and Alameda County.
It’s not a terrible proposal, but $200 million in public money still might be too much to ask for. Recently, San Diego residents voted against a plan to help publicly fund a new stadium/convention center addition for the Chargers.

DJ HAYDEN DONE-

Hayden suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s victory over the Panthers. Now, Oakland will move forward without its No. 3 cornerback. In his place, T.J. Carrie will probably see an increase in playing time.

Declined his 5th year option --he's done...reggie's first pick in 2013..... first first rounder------100th best cb of 120

NFL:

-If the game is good - people will watch
-Don't think Cowboys are all that

SONNY TO BAYLOR:

Keep an eye on Baylor
Expect an active weekend in the Bears' search, as they are clearly waiting out this weekend's games as well. A potential big fish would be Colorado's Mike MacIntyre, but he's unlikely to leave Boulder for Baylor. SMU's Chad Morris is off the board, as he agreed to sign a long-term extension at SMU. There's always been a feeling around Larry Fedora that it would be hard to leave the comforts of Chapel Hill for the uncertainty of Waco. Fedora has Texas roots, but waiting to see if Texas A&M pops next year would seem more pragmatic. Cal coach Sonny Dykes feels like the back-up plan here, the safe play as there's long been a feeling that Berkeley is a bad fit. Arkansas State's Blake Anderson plays this weekend and is considered an outside target. Jeff Brohm would be a weird fit geographically, but his offense has been so consistent at Western Kentucky that he could merit a late look here.

MLB HOT STOVE:

Is Will a HOFer?

CRASNICK: NATS, GIANTS IN ON MELACON - 4-60M

Mark Melancon's talks are moving along. and still in the mix. He could land a deal in 4-year, $60M range, sources say.

BRUCE, MARTIENZ IN GAINTS OF MIX:
  • That being said, the Giants are also looking to add a power bat in the outfield, and they have continued to consider Tigers slugger J.D. Martinez, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link). That interest has been known for some time, but it seems there’s still life to the possibility. Notably, GM Bobby Evans has signaled that San Francisco does not wish to take on a long-term obligation in the outfield, as Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle tweets. The same rationale that makes Martinez appealing — his one year of team control — could also make Mets outfielder Jay Bruce a possibility, Schulman notes.

Giants: How about Turner, Fowler and a closer?

Word circulating is that Fowler camp thinks they can get 18M per on multiyear. Stl, SF, Tor among teams believed interested

DODGERS IN ON CUTCH:

While much of the trade chatter on Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen has focused on the Nationals, the Dodgers are also a plausible suitor, per ESPN.com’s Buster Olney. There’s interest from Los Angeles in the 30-year-old, not least of which because he’s controllable at a fairly reasonable salary and doesn’t come with a lengthy commitment.
