SUSAN SLUSSER PIECE ON GIANTS LATIN PLAYERS REVEALED GIANTS TRIED TO LOCK UP DOVAL LONG TERM LAST OFF SEASON:

The Giants demonstrated they want to make it a long-term arrangement with Doval, offering him a multiyear deal in the $50 million range last year, the Chronicle learned. The sides were unable to come to an agreement, perhaps because another closer, Edwin Díaz, had received a $102 million deal from the Mets not long before. The team could revisit things with Doval, but if not, the job could go to Rodríguez. He has been stellar in his rookie year, with a 2.76 ERA in his first month.

2025 FAS— CAN THE GINATS SIGN HITTERS AFTER CHAPMAN AND SOLER CAME ABOARD?

49ERS:

-AIYUK IS GOING TO WIN HIS NEGOTIATION - 49ERS CANT RELY ON A ROOKIE IN THIS CRITICAL YEAR
-WHAT WE LEARNED FROM JOEL CORRY - IT’S NOT GOING FORM 1-60M IN ONE YEAR — THE 49ERS WILL RAMP UP THE NUMBER LIKE JOSH ALLEN -

JOSH ALLEN: 6 258M - (43M AAV) — 18.6,   30, 61, 56, 49, 45.

BROCK - AVERAGE IS GOING TO BE - 50M - (300M) — 30, 40, 70, 65, 50, 45. -

AIYUK:

Latest on negotiations: Aiyuk has not participated during the voluntary portion of the offseason program, but that's to be expected as he awaits what figures to be a lucrative contract extension.

Like some of the other 49ers stars before him (George KittleFred WarnerDeebo SamuelNick Bosa), patience might again be the operative word. The current Niners regime has almost always gotten deals like these done, but not until later in the summer, with Bosa's not being finalized until days before last year's season opener.

A deal doesn't appear to be imminent, but the 49ers remain confident something will get done to keep Aiyuk for the long haul. -- Nick Wagoner

1- GIANTS:

A- WHAT IF JUDGE HAD SIGNED AND HEYMAN WAS RIGHT?

WHO THEY SIGNED AFTER IN 2023:

The SF Giants may forever regret not being able to convince Aaron Judge sign with them. And they may never live down the tumult of the Carlos Correa saga, which cemented one of the weirdest offseasons in recent memory. But in that chaos, it's easy to forget that the Giants nevertheless had a notably robust free agent class join them this past year.

Mitch Haniger and Michael Conforto joined the Giants on the position side, while Joc Pederson re-signed after an All-Star season. Sean Manaea and Ross Stripling joined the rotation, while Taylor Rogers reunited with his brother Tyler, and Luke Jackson helped round out the bullpen. How did the group fair?
