Breaking: Oakland Planning Commission unanimously moves forward A's ballpark project, by ⁦‪@eastbaycitizen‬⁩eastbayinsiders.substack.com/p/breaking-oak… 1/19/22, 4:57 PM

WAKE ME WHEN THERE ARE SHOVELS IN THE GROUND….

The proposed Howard Terminal Ballpark plan cleared its biggest hurdle to date Wednesday evening after the Oakland Planning Commission unanimously moved forward the project’s Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The $11 billion project and certification of the EIR now heads next to the Oakland City Council.

In a positive sign for the project’s chances at the Oakland City Council, several planning commissioners lauded the EIR for how thorough it appeared to be.

Planning Commissioner Sahar Shirazi, who worked previously for the state office that deals with the California Environemental Quality Act (CEQA), said the ballpark EIR is one of the most thorough she has ever seen. “I don’t see a reason not to advance this to the city council,” she said.

“This final EIR shows that CEQA does work.” Planning Commissioner Jennifer Renk added.

The project’s centerpiece is a 35,000-seat ballpark for the Oakland Athletics, along with up to 3,000 housing units, retail, hotels, and a total of 18 acres of public space. Adjacent to downtown Oakland, Jack London Square, and Brooklyn Basin, the ballpark project is viewed as a potential redefining moment for the city.

C- RODGERS: - HEARD COSELL SAY THIS MORING , IT’S NOT THE SACKS — IT’S MAKING HIM HURRY UP, SPEED UP, YOU WON’T SACK HIM MUCH…..
-ALSO, SAID YOU CAN’T BRACKET DAVOTE ON EVERY PLAY — WHY NOT???

D- COSELL ISN’T CONVICNED 49ERS CBS ARE PLAYING A TON BETTER— SAIDS THEY PLAYED A LOT OF OFF V DALLAS AND DAK DIDNT MAKE THEM PAY AIKMAN SAID SAME THING— RODGERS WON’T MAKE THAT MISTAKE— I WOULD IMAGINE 49ERS MIX IT UP MORE….

B- BEST GAME IN THE RIVALRY:

-TO ME PACKERS ARE THE POST SEASON RIVAL—

-HAVE BEEN GOOD FROM RODGERS TO FAVRE—
-COWBOYS , WFT, GIANTS, BEARS HAVE BEEN UP AND DOWN —
-SEATTLE IS RECENT — BUT ONLY ONE MEMORABLE PLAYOFF NFC CHAMPIOSHIP GAME…
-PACKERS AND 49ERS 4-4 IN PLAYOFFS….

C- THIS GAME VS FIRST GAME—

COMPARING FIRST  GAME—- 116 IN PENALITES—PI WAS AN ISSUE….

-PENALTIES V GREEN BAY FIRST TIME AORUND…

think in the first Green Bay game you had, I think there was 81 yards in pass interference penalties and that was kind of an issue earlier in the year that you rectified. And I'm curious as to your take on what changed in the secondary? Was it a gradual improvement? What do you attribute the improvement in that area?
“Yeah, I think it was 116 yards, so it definitely wasn't good. And we had another game like that too with Indy, but we had a number of guys playing in that game who've been in and out throughout the year. And that's kind of how the whole year's gone for our whole group, but I think just everybody, not just individuals, but the whole, everyone who’s gone back

* Elijah Mitchell didn’t play in Week 3 * Deebo Samuel had 0 yards rushing * Arden Key rushed from EDGE (3 snaps) * Lenoir/Norman played corner * Jauan Jennings didn’t play a snap

5 THINGS 49ERS SHOULD FEEL GOOD ABOUT:

49ers have the #1 red zone scoring offense this season -- Packers defense allowed 33 TDs on 49 red zone attempts this season, ranking them 30th in the NFL.
-GB DEFENSE: RUSH YDS PER ATTEMT — 4.7 (31) — BUT ONLY 23.2 RUSH ATTEMPTS PER GAME 4TH BEST — WHY? YOU’RE BEHIND…..

49ERS LAST 4 POST SEASON GAMES: 195.3 YARDS PER GAME RUSHING

D- HOW WOULD SHERMAN KNOW? HAS HE SEEN LANCE??

"You wanted to get rid of Jimmy, now you gotta reap what you sow."

Richard Sherman believes Jimmy Garoppolo should be the 49ers' starting quarterback next season

⁦‪@PavlovicNBCS‬ explains why he voted for both Tim Lincecum and Barry Bonds on his Baseball Hall of Fame ballot

bit.ly/3fCtyRx pic.twitter.com/OvXZKdCodH 1/19/22, 8:40 AM

He won a Cy Young in his first full season and another one the next year. He was an All-Star in his first four full seasons and then never again. From 2008-11, he led the NL in innings and wins, and the majors in strikeouts. For three straight seasons, he led MLB in strikeouts per nine innings, and in two of those seasons he had the lowest FIP in the league. Lincecum posted a 2.81 ERA over those four seasons, was worth 22.5 fWAR, and put a cherry on top of that run by going 4-1 with a 2.43 ERA as the Giants finally brought a title to San Francisco in 2010.

It is a peak that's worthy of Hall of Fame consideration, but it was followed by a steep decline that will ultimately keep him out. Lincecum will have a hard time even making it to a second ballot, but if you're telling the story of Major League Baseball over the last 20 years, he has his own chapter. It doesn't feel right for a career that interesting and special to be pushed off the ballot after just one year, and ultimately that made it a pretty easy call to fill the box next to his name.

C- I HATE BLANK BALLOTS BECASUE THERE ARE WORTHY CANDIDATES —

nypost.com/2022/01/19/why… Especially if David Ortiz just misses 75 pct and no one is elected next week to the Hall of Fame, I expect blank ballots to be a huge issue. I DID NOT send in a blank ballot, but am here to defend those that did. 1/19/22, 7:32 AM
