JOE STALEY WEIGHS IN ON JIMMY V TREY QB COMPETITION -
Jimmy, since day one, he’s been a winner, when he’s been with the San Francisco 49ers,” Staley said. “He hasn’t been available in a lot of games and I think that’s what the Niners did with drafting Trey Lance. It’s little bit of an insurance policy, but Jimmy is going to get every opportunity to win that starting job for training camp, but I think it’s good for him because honestly as a player myself, I felt entrenched as a left tackle. But when I would get guys that came in as rookies, trying to vie for my job, it definitely pushed you a little bit more in training camp.
“Competition just breeds more success on the football field if you frame it the right way and I know Jimmy will, but Trey’s a very exciting player as well. His skill set and what he’s going to be able to do in Kyle’s offense, it’s going to be exciting to see this whole season, it’s going to be really interesting to see how it plays out.”

2- WARRIORS:
-DEEPER DIVE INTO 7 AND 14…….
EARLY READ: — THEY MIGHT USE THEM OR COMBO THEM FOR A BETTER PLAYER —- BECUASE OF THE MONEY….
(SLATER)
The early consensus on this draft was that there was a five-player tier up top — Cade Cunningham, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, Jonathan Kuminga — before a steep drop-off. Scottie Barnes is getting increasing buzz as of late. But that’s still six prospects and the Warriors sit seventh, out of that realm.
Maybe they could use 14 and 7 in an attempt to move up, getting a higher-ceiling prospect while also opening up an extra roster spot for a veteran in free agency.
“I don’t know if it’s just going to be five players (considered the top tier),” Myers said. “I don’t know if it will narrow down to a four-player draft or three or it will become a six-player draft or seven. But that’s what this process is about. I mean, you’re going to find whatever you thought of today may change. I do know this: I can find 14 players, and I think our group can, that we like. So I think if we can find 14, we can find seven, and it is really deep. And that’s not me saying that because we have two picks. Make your own determination, but it is in our opinion a pretty deep draft. So it’s nice to have two picks in it.”
There are financial implications to every Warriors move this summer and, if you listened to Joe Lacob recently on Tim Kawakami’s podcast, it’s become pretty clear that there is some sort of limit. The seventh pick will earn around $5.5 million as a rookie next season. The 14th pick will earn around $3.6 million. Huge tax penalties are attached to both of those numbers, but a more established veteran trade target would presumably come with a bigger salary and larger penalties.
“You can’t acquire a veteran with a big contract,” Lacob told Kawakami. “The numbers are impossible. … We’re in a good economic situation if we get out of COVID, which it looks like we are. But it’s just not possible to do. We already have by far and away the biggest payroll in the history of the league. It’s not a question of not wanting to do it; it’s just not possible. So getting a veteran with a big contract, that’s not happening. Stop thinking of that, stop analyzing, stop saying it. It’s just not happening.”
At this point, the best bet is the Warriors use these two picks, though the situation is fluid and Myers said the real trade offers don’t start getting serious until about “a week out, maybe two” from the draft.
THE BEST MOVE RIGHT NOW:
1- PISTONS - CUNNINGHAM
2- ROCKETS — MOBLEY OR GREEN
3- CAVS — WHOEVER ROCKETS DON’T TAKE
4- RAPTORS— GOING TO LOSE LOWRY — SO SUGGS MAKES MOST SENSE WITH VAN VLEET—- COULD YOU TRADE 7 AND 14 TO RAPTORS FOR 4 AND TAKE SUGGS???
(AND MAYBE A WISEMAN FOR BOUCHER SWAP??)
JOE LACOB SAYS NO…..

MARK DAVIS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT IN HIS MINI-COOPER…..
COMBINE COULD MOVE— I THINK EVERYTHING IS GOING TO VEGAS…..
The NFL Scouting Combine is primed for a new home in the near future -- multiple, in fact.
The league informed all 32 clubs, via a memo obtained by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Wednesday, that hosting the annual showcase will be open to a bidding process starting with the 2023 event. The expansion of host cities continues the league's focus on growing and evolving marquee events to reach millions of fans locally, nationally and internationally, Rapoport added.
"The League, in concert with the Combine Executive Committee, is considering ways to grow the Combine as a tentpole event, while at the same time enhancing the prospect experience and partnership," the memo read.
The original iteration of the combine, previously known as the national invitational camp, was held in Tampa, Florida in 1982. The event permanently moved to Indianapolis in 1987, where it will be held in 2022.
The memo also included instruction on applying to host the Super Bowl and NFL draft, which will also continue to cycle through different locations after once being a fixture in New York.
A key upcoming date on these matters in July 23. That is when applications are due to host the 2023 combine, Super Bowl 60 or 61 and the 2025 draft, as well as express general interest in hosting the 2024-27 combines, Super Bowls 62-64, and 2026-29 drafts.
