MLB RULE CHANGES?

Re-upping my news story on the dueling rules-change proposals from MLB and the MLBPA. One thing worth highlighting: The union is pitching the universal DH to be implemented for this season, sources tell ESPN. Remains to be seen how amenable MLB is to it. es.pn/2Gca0nw

Dueling proposals from MLB on Jan. 14 and the union on Friday covered a wide range of topics, according to sources. Among them include:
- A three-batter minimum for pitchers N
- A universal designated hitter Y
- A single trade deadline before the All-Star break N
- A 20-second pitch clock N
- The expansion of rosters to 26 men, with a 12-pitcher maximum N
- Draft advantages for winning teams and penalties for losing teams N
- A study to lower the mound N
- A rule that would allow two-sport amateurs to sign major league contracts /whatever
Rosenthal: Three-batter requirement for all pitchers, universal DH part of proposals that could bring big change to baseball
GOOD QUESTION:
Which Bay Area stars are headed to the Hall of Fame? Stephen Curry (of course), Buster Posey (maybe), Billy Beane (hmmmm)
IN: CURRY DURANT, JOE THORTON, STEVE KERR, BOCHY,
MAYBE: KLAY, GREEN, STALEY, , BUSTER, MAD BUM , BOB MELVIN
NO: PATRICK WILLIS, BOB MYERS , DOUG WILSON

TOBIAS HARRIS TRADED TO 76ERS

23. San Francisco 49ers
2018 record: 4-12
Reason for optimism: A healthy Jimmy Garoppolo. The Niners entered 2018 with a lot of buzz about a quick turnaround from the 6-10 record they posted in 2017, but most of that optimism vanished when Garoppolo tore an ACL in Week 3. Better health for the whole roster would be a welcome change, but having a full season of Garoppolo should at least offer the Niners a chance to know what they truly have at quarterback and put them in better position to get to .500 or better in 2019. -- Nick Wagoner

The #49ers are still open to Raiders playing one season at Levi’s Stadium, but not in San Francisco, league source says. S.F. Mayor London Breed does not want the Raiders in her city, and neither do 77% of mostly 49ers fans, according to unscientific poll.
