WARRIORS ROUTED IN HOUSTON 107-86 --BOX
-RECORD WITHOUT CURRY
-SO WHAT IOS THE AFTERMATH OF ALL THIS: OST 107-86:
-BETTER, WORSE, NO DIFFERENT.??
LOST 107-86:
Houston had a 13-point lead at the end of the third and opened the fourth quarter with a 12-2 run to make it 88-65 and spur Golden State coach Steve Kerr to call a timeout. The Warriors had two shots blocked and committed two loose ball fouls in that span to help Houston pad the lead. The Rockets got 3-pointers from James Ennis and Isaiah Hartenstein to cap the run.
The Rockets then scored the first nine points after the timeout, with six from Ennis, to make it 97-65 midway through the quarter and put the game out of reach. Both teams cleared their benches a couple of minutes after that.
49ERS / NFL:
PARCELLS SAYS WALSH CHEATED--IF YOU AIN'T CHEATIN' YOU AIN'T TRYIN' --I HAVE NO ISSUE WITH THIS (HOW MUCH GOES ON??)
"Bill," Parcells told Walsh during warmups, "if you pull the same s--- you pulled last year, I'm going to expose you. I'm going to the league with it."
According to the book, Walsh responded with a smile and a wink. "It's just a little gamesmanship," Walsh told Parcells.
The Giants routed San Francisco, 49-3, that day in Giants Stadium on their way to Parcells' first of two Super Bowl victories.
"It was really the start of mutual respect from both of us," Parcells said of Walsh. "He knew I didn't say anything [about the headsets], and I knew he was f---ing with me, and he knew I understood it."
Walsh said afterward, "They played a perfect game. We were shattered by a great team. I believe they will go all the way."

RED ZONE FOR BASEBALL - HOW MUCH MORE BASEBALL WOULD YOU WATCH? LED BY FORMER ESPN BOSS JOHN SKIPPER
EGINNING IN 2019, DAZN SUBSCRIBERS WILL HAVE A NEW LIVE SHOW ON THE SPORTS STREAMING PLATFORM TO SEE EVERY KEY PLAY, EVERY WEEKNIGHT, FROM ALL 30 MLB CLUBS
LONDON, 15 November – Major League Baseball and global sports streaming platform DAZN have agreed to a three-year live digital rights partnership in the United States, set to begin with the 2019 MLB regular season, it was announced today by Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr., and DAZN Group Executive Chairman John Skipper. Today’s announcement was made after the 30 Major League Clubs approved the deal.
The partnership will deliver a live show each weeknight, available to subscribers via DAZN’s digital sports streaming platform, that will feature live look-ins to the best MLB action as it’s happening. This show will seamlessly whip around live MLB games to showcase the most suspenseful moments, crucial plays and biggest rallies. Additional details of the show, which will be co-produced by MLB and DAZN, will be announced in the coming months. There also will be on-demand MLB content and live weekend wrap shows available to DAZN subscribers.
“DAZN’s multisport streaming platform provides Major League Baseball and our Clubs an important opportunity to extend the game’s digital reach,” said Commissioner Manfred. “Our collaborative production will benefit DAZN’s subscribers with new ways to follow the captivating storylines, talented young stars and impactful plays happening around the game every day.”
“We are thrilled to partner with MLB on this important new initiative, which will be a great complement to and promotion of the outstanding lineup of live games from its national and regional broadcasters,” said Skipper. “We will target young multicultural fans, many of whom do not have pay television. The fast-paced nature of a whip-around show will appeal to this audience and bring in new fans. Ultimately, our goal with MLB is to grow both the overall audience for baseball and the burgeoning DAZN business.”
ESPN PIECE: IT'S GOING TO TAKE TIME AND PATIENCE
FARHAN MAY HAVE TO GO THE MCKENZIE RAIDERS ROUTE FIRST --GET RID OF CONTRACTS BEFORE ADDING ATTRACTIVE NAMES---DON;T THINK HARPER ...
The rest of the core players are essentially untradable because of their contracts in combination with their recent level of production. Look at what this group is owed over upcoming seasons:
Mark Melancon: $28 million through 2020
Jeff Samardzija: $36 million through 2020
Brandon Crawford: $45 million through 2021
Brandon Belt: $48 million through 2021
Buster Posey: $67.2 million through 2021
Johnny Cueto: $68 million through 2021
Evan Longoria: $72.5 million through 2022
Jeff Samardzija: $36 million through 2020
Brandon Crawford: $45 million through 2021
Brandon Belt: $48 million through 2021
Buster Posey: $67.2 million through 2021
Johnny Cueto: $68 million through 2021
Evan Longoria: $72.5 million through 2022
I did a quick study of old lineups, looking at all teams from 2013 to 2017 that had an average positional player age of at least 30. Those 24 teams averaged 83.2 wins in the year of the study and fell to 77.5 the following season. In the second season after the study, they averaged 80.7 wins -- a figure boosted by the 104-win Dodgers of 2017 and the 100-win Yankees of 2018.
That doesn't account for quality of the lineup, however, as even old-but-good lineups can fall apart in a hurry. The 2013 Red Sox won the World Series with an average age of 30.2, but fell to 71 and 78 wins the next two seasons. Luckily, the farm system produced Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts and Andrew Benintendi, and they were back in the playoffs in 2016. The 2013-14 Tigers were old and good, but fell from 93 and 90 wins to 74 and are still trying to dig out of that hole. The 2015 Blue Jays were an offensive powerhouse, leading the American League in runs scored with 891. They've gone from 93 wins to 89 to 76 to 73 and scored just 709 runs in 2018.
And those were the good teams, mind you (and none of that accounts for the pitching side of the ledger, of course). With no obvious impact offensive players in the minors, the road to recovery for the Giants isn't so simple -- outside of opening the wallet for Bryce Harper. Except Zaidi is obviously aware that Harper alone won't turn the franchise into a contender.
