Perhaps this is hard for some of y’all to get, but why would the Spurs enthusiastically participate in building a potential THIRD superpower in the west w/GS/HOU by sending Leonard to L.A. for…who/what? Or have you forgotten what Indy did less than a year ago with PG13?

GIANTS:

HARPER REALLY?

The San Francisco Giants look like a very likely player for Bryce Harper, and maybe even a main player.
While some believe Harper will wind up back with the Nats, sources say there won’t be any more talk before free agency and some in the inner circle believe the Nationals aren’t nearly as likely.
The Giants were the one team said to be willing to take the most of the $295 million remaining on Giancarlo Stanton’s deal in trade this winter (sources suggest they actually offered to take the whole deal, which is why the Marlins loved that transaction, which was ultimately not accepted by Stanton, who wanted to go to the Dodgers, Astros or Yankees as he wanted to win – and admitted later that as a lifelong Dodgers fan he had trouble conceiving of the Giants).
And Giants GM Bobby Evans on Sirius radio recently did nothing to dispel the possibility that Harper is on their radar.
“They do make some sense,” one Harper friend said of the Giants.
While the Giants mostly built their three World Series-winning teams by drafting and developing great pitchers like Tim Lincecum, Madison Bumgarner and Matt Cain, they aren’t afraid of taking a free agency plunge or spending big. They made $100 million or near $100 million offers to Jon Lester, Lincecum, Pablo Sandoval, Hunter Pence and likely others, they will have an opening in the outfield with Andrew McCutchen a free agent (and Pence nearing the end) and they set themselves up for a big move by staying below the luxury-tax threshold; coincidentally, they were able to stay below that magic $197 million mark with their creative contract for reliever Tony Watson, another client of agent Scott Boras.
They have made themselves room for the big move. It won’t be Manny Machado, since they are committed to Brandon Crawford, an MVP candidate, and Evan Longoria on the left side of the infield.
Will it be Harper?
