WARRIORS VS. ROCKETS

WARRIORS:

With All-Star Weekend now in the rearview mirror, the Warriors have the easiest remaining schedule of any team in the West in terms of cumulative opponent winning percentage (.463)

hirteen of the Warriors’ final 24 games are against clubs currently outside of the playoff standings, including eight games against teams with 19 wins or fewer (three versus Suns, two versus Kings, two versus Hawks and one against the Nets). Additionally, just one of the five remaining multi-city road trips are longer than two games.
The Rockets have just three games against teams with 19 wins or fewer and open with 11 of 14 games on the road following the break. Houston has five back-to-backs remaining. The Warriors have three. The Rockets’ remaining strength of schedule is 745-705 (.514) with 10 games against non-playoff teams.
However, the Warriors lost the tiebreaker to Houston by dropping two of their three matchups this season. The Rockets would get home court advantage throughout the playoffs if the teams finish with the same record.

rockets:
Beginning with the Timberwolves (36-25) at Toyota Center on Friday night, the Rockets' next eight games are against teams with winning records with six of those games on the road. They also include two sets of back-to-backs. After playing at Dallas on March 11 to break up the run of formidable foes, they finish another back-to-back by returning home to play San Antonio. Less than a week later, the Rockets have another back-to-back, going from New Orleans on March 17 to Minnesota on March 18.
Golden State will play six teams with winning records over its next 10 games and will follow that with games against Sacramento and Phoenix. Just four of the Warriors' next 10 games are on the road with only one set of games on consecutive nights.
Of the Rockets' 25 remaining games, 15 are against teams in playoff contention. Golden State, which has 24 regular-season games left, will play 11 teams in playoff position.
DURANT, GREEN SAYS BEST RECORD DOESN'T MATTER:
a feature by Anthony Slater of The Athletic that was published on Tuesday, Warriors forwards Draymond Green and Kevin Durant said that the team does not care about being at the top of the regular season standings again.
“I don’t even look at the standings,” the reigning Defensive Player of the Year Green was quoted as saying. “We haven’t even talked about it.”
“Best record? That’s not even a thing,” added the defending NBA Finals MVP Durant. “It’s about playing good basketball every night. If we don’t play good basketball, we’ll lose.”
It’s a position that makes perfect sense — the Warriors are gunning for their fourth straight Finals appearance and their second straight title, devaluing the importance of the regular season. They also already won an NBA single-season record 73 games in 2015-16 (albeit before Durant came aboard).
Granted, Golden State (at 44-14) is still only 0.5 games behind the Houston Rockets for the league’s best record heading into the second half of the season. But these comments are further evidence that they may be on cruise control for a regular season that they are admittedly not quite in top form for.

MLB:

-CEPEDA RUSHED TO HOSPITAL

Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda was rushed to a Bay Area hospital on Monday night, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
San Francisco Giants spokeswoman who confirmed Cepeda's hospitalization to the Chronicle said she had no further information on his condition or the nature of his illness, the newspaper reported.
Cepeda, 80, was an 11-time All-Star first baseman who played 17 seasons for six MLB teams, including the Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves.

why not?:

Buster Posey said he thinks an ear piece for the catcher and pitcher would help solve pace of play and sign-stealing issues.
