shea's right get younger:

That means trades, not free agency. On a related front, Marcell Ozuna turned 27 last month and is coming off a season in which he hit .312 with 37 home runs and won a Gold Glove. He’s two years from free agency, and the payroll-slashing Marlins are willing to move him, along with fellow outfielder Christian Yelich, who turned 26 last week.
The Marlins are familiar with the Giants’ farm system in the wake of the Giancarlo Stanton negotiations, and it would take a bundle to land either unless the Giants agree to take on the dead weight of other Marlins contracts.
The point is, the younger players come via trades, before they put in six full big-league seasons to qualify for free agency. Cincinnati’s speedy Billy Hamilton and Boston’s Jackie Bradley Jr. are 27, a year younger than Toronto’s Kevin Pillar. Those are center-field options on the trade market.
Milwaukee is listening on corner man Domingo Santana, 25. It wasn’t long ago the A’s sent two prospects to the Brewers for Khris Davis, who has the kind of punch the Giants lack
The Giants also need a third baseman, and Baltimore is open to moving superstar Manny Machado a year before free agency. Machado is … wait for it … 25.
Whether the Giants have the right prospects to make roster-upgrading trades is another story, but it’s the logical route to pursue if they’re serious about getting younger and more athletic.
