Williams is slated to make $20.8 million in 2024, $23.25 million in 2025, and $32.96 million in 2026 under his current contract. However, none of those salaries are guaranteed. After restructuring running back Christian McCaffrey’s deal earlier this summer in a similar situation, Williams has reason to believe he can push the 49ers to make some concessions. Moreover, Williams has shown a unique willingness to give up paychecks as a means of generating leverage. After all, the Commanders were only willing to trade him to the 49ers after Williams held out and refused to play for the organization.
