Klay Thompson told Steph Curry not to demand that the front office pay him, per @anthonyVslater
"I was told that Klay requested of Steph, 'Don't exert your influence. Don't demand that they do right by me financially. I want them to, want to [do that on their own]'"

The Lakers offered Klay Thompson $20M a year to sign with them, AND offered the Warriors D’Angelo Russell via a sign-and-trade deal.
The Warriors still declined, per @ChrisBHaynes.
SLATER’S PIECE KEY POINTS…
-KLAY IDNT WANT CURRY’S HELP - HE WANTED THE WARRIORS TO WANT TO….
-Biggest point money, communication, priority, respect, green, Poole rewarded, Wiggins,
-NEVER AN OFFER FROM WARRIORS
Last 2 seasons, shot selection, role changes, tough to competence self , negative energy
Wanted him to bexa good mentor , haven’t happy
Internal fight was himself, couldn’t recapture his former self
Marksmen “warriors def in mix”
Wiggins? A lot on table, notcshopping him, but lots of active trade convos
Markkanen deal, talking about a lot of picks? Would be in post Steph curry era
B- WARRIORS DIDN’T PUT KUMINGA IN POSSIBLE TRADE WITH CLIPPERS—- MISTAKE?
-DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO ME….. GEORGE COULD PUT YOU BACK IN CONTENTION IN WEST… TIMING WORKS OUT….
-YOU’RE IN LOTTERY WITH OR WITHOUT KUMINGA…..
-CLEARLY — WARRIORS WERENT ALL IN WITH CURRY….
According to ESPN's Ramona Shelbourne the Clippers asked for forward Jonathan Kuminga to be included in a deal for George, but the Warriors "resisted because Kuminga is so important to their own future."
Shelbourne explained that Golden State "offered multiple combinations of expiring contracts, young players and an unprotected 2027 first-round pick" for George, but Los Angeles countered by asking for Kuminga to be included in the deal. The Warriors also felt like dealing away Kuminga would make them a less attractive destination, as Shelbourne noted "they worried George wouldn't be as interested in joining them if they gave up too much to get him."
At several points, it seemed the teams might reach a deal as talks took place at both the ownership and executive levels. But they never found common ground on the financial implications for the Clippers. As they did with George, sources said LA held firm on not taking back contracts that would land it over the second apron unless there were compelling reasons to do so.
A spirited debate can be had on what would've, or should've, been compelling enough for the Clippers, and whether their resistance and discipline about not going over the second apron was wise or worth it.

WHAT’S UP WITH MILES BRIDGES?
In October 2021 Bridges turned down a 4-year $60 million extension offer, betting on himself. That looked to have worked as in the 2022 off-season he was expected to command double that salary, although less than the full, 5-year, $173 million max according to Brian Windhorst. However, everything changed just hours before Free Agency as Bridges was charged for domestic assault and missed the entire 2022-23 season. The saga resumed in July 2023 when the Hornets refused to pay Bridges the "north of $25 million per year"figure he was looking for. Bridges signed his 1-year $7.9 million qualifying offer and is now set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

| | | | | | Blake Snell will make one more start with the River Cats on Wednesday and likely rejoin the rotation after the upcoming road trip.
Kyle Harrison will throw another bullpen and likely be slotted back into the rotation after the road trip, too. | | 6/29/24, 1:55 PM |

-IF YOU ARE HALF FULL GIANTS PERSON:
|
| | | | | | The Giants went 12-14 in June and had a two-man rotation at one point. But ... they're still just three games out of a playoff spot, their injured starters are due back in July and they have Spencer Bivens now. | | 6/30/24, 3:32 PM |

-CAN THIS OFFENSE BE PASSABLE?
IF Matt Chapman (1x3, r, hr, 3rbi, bb) logged his 11th home run of the season...he hit safely in each of the seven games on the homestand.
• In the seven games, Chapman slashed .385/.452/.808 with five extra-base hits (two doubles, three homers), seven runs and nine RBI.
DH Jorge Soler (2x4, 2r, 2 2b, rbi, bb, k) slashed .284/.361/.484 (.845 OPS) in 26 games during June...he had 10 doubles, three homers, 15 RBI and 21 runs scored.

C- JOHN SHEA ADVOCATES FOR GIANTS TO BE SELLERS AT DEADLINE….

WOULD SEE: MATOS FULL TIME, LUCIANO,
—FARHAN WONT DO IT… WOULD HE GET FIRED?
-GIANTS HAVE A 23% CHANCE. OF MAKING PLAYOFFS….
-GIANTS WILL SAY WHEN PITCHING COMES BACK JUST HAVE TO MAKE IT IN….
Meantime, the Giants are one of 10 teams fighting for three National League wild-card spots, meaning the odds aren’t in their favor even at a mere three games back of the final playoff spot entering the weekend.
If most NL teams still believe at the deadline that the postseason is doable, it would be a perfect time for a team such as the Giants to sell. With more demand than supply, prices would rise in a sellers’ market. The Giants could capitalize with some brave decisions that could help shape the franchise for years to come.
What we do know is that standing pat hasn’t worked, and perhaps it’s time for more of a drastic approach to the deadline. Moving veterans for prospects, even middle-of-the road prospects, would add depth to a farm system that’s ranked in the lower half by all outlets who judge such things.
This team has no Barry Bonds or Buster Posey to build around. It’s not a deep roster and has trouble consistently playing winning baseball. If ever there was a time to move older players and more heavily rely on younger ones, this could be it, and the Giants have the perfect manager in place, given Bob Melvin’s success managing young players in Oakland to six playoff appearances in 11 years.
What players should be untouchable? Not many. Catcher Patrick Bailey and ace Logan Webb, for starters. And Ramos and Matos, to accompany Bailey with the youth movement. If Farhan Zaidi has a chance to get the Giants younger and more athletic — there’s that phrase again — everyone else should be available in trade talk.
Michael Conforto is in the final season of his contract and would become tradable only if he snaps out of his current funk. Cobb also will be a free agent after the season, but he has very little time to show himself to other teams. Closer Camilo Doval could bring quality in return. So could second baseman Thairo Estrada and first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr., the Giants’ best player before he pulled a hamstring. (Speaking of Wade, how could the Giants possibly be in position not to be able to promote a single slugging first baseman to fill in?)
With roster openings, the Giants could get creative with their young players. Schmitt could get a long look at shortstop, perhaps sharing the position with Brett Wisely, who has been spectacular on both sides of the ball. Luciano, who hasn’t shown he’s good enough defensively to play short every day in the majors, could be turned into a super utility player and get reps throughout the infield and outfield, along with Wisely. With more young talent to come.
The question is, would the Giants be willing to let all the kids play? Read chairman Greg Johnson’s comment to the Chronicle this week and judge for yourself: “I think we should all be excited about seeing the youth that’s moving quickly up the system, that’s really the key to everything. We all get focused on free agents so much, but the reality is the farm system is what’s going to drive success. And I think for the first time in a long time we’re really seeing some major talent coming out of the farm system.”
Granted, teams wouldn’t be interested in too many Giants veterans having down years, but if enough veterans are moved, and if the door opens for more young players to make a splash, maybe even make the roster more competitive, fans certainly would embrace the movement.
