Myers said the results from Klay's MRI might make them more aggressive with TPE. But he said they needed wing depth any way and sounds like he was planning on using it

DRAFT NIGHT MOVES:

3- 49ERS —

JOEL CORRY: 49ERS WOULD SAVE 22.7M BY TRADING JIMMY —

The 49ers did something unique with the five-year, $137.5 million contract Garoppolo signed in February 2018 to briefly become the NFL's highest player at $27.5 million per year. The deal was structured with an unusually large $37 million 2018 cap number (the first year), which was almost 35 percent more than Garoppolo's average yearly salary. Garoppolo's remaining cap numbers are more manageable for the typical high end contract. As a result, the 49ers would gain $22.7 million of salary cap room next year by getting Garoppolo's $26.9 million 2021 cap number off their books, presumably in a trade. Nick Mullens hasn't done anything playing in place of Garoppolo to suggest he's a viable alternative for the future.

49ERS QB ODDS:

- SAM DARNOLD - JETS ARE GETTING TOP PICK -  COULD A FUTURE 2 AND CONDITIONAL 4 GET IT DONE? HAS 9.7 CAP HIT IN 4TH YR OF DEAL, PLUS 49ERS COULD EXERCISE 5TH YR OPTION. (SAVE 13M ON JIMMY)

- DRAFT: TREY LANCE NDSU , ZACH WILSON (BYU) , KYLE TRASK (FLORIDA)

-OFF THE HEAP: FOLES, TRUBISKY, CAM, JAMEIS, RIVERS, BRISETT, FITZPATRICK.

-THEY’LL PASS TAKK ON PHYSICAL - GROIN

Ian Rapoport
⁦‪@RapSheet‬⁩
One note: While Takk McKinley was failed on a physical in Cincy for a groin injury, my understanding is the #49ersare OK with it. They’ll have to assess the groin and see when he can play, but they are good with where he stands physically.

4- GIANTS:

Bryant, Báez, Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Schwarber are all slated to become free agents at the end of the 2021 season, while Willson Contreras can become a free agent after the '22 campaign. Yu Darvish has three years and $59 million left on his contract, while Kyle Hendricks has three years and $43.5 million remaining on his deal.

All seven players were mentioned by executives as potential trade chips this offseason.

“They are open to all kinds of stuff,” the NL executive said. “They aren’t a group afraid to make big moves.”

• What’s next for Schwarber, Bryant, Báez?

An American League executive believes Chicago will move at least two of the aforementioned group in an effort to save money and undergo a reset of sorts.

“My sense is that the Cubs are very open [to anything],” the exec said.

Trading some from this group could be tricky given their salaries. Bryant should see a raise from his $18.6 million figure in his fourth and final year of arbitration, Rizzo is due $16.5 milli
