-GERARD GALANT CALLS DEBOER A CLWN, SAYS LOGAN COTURE WAS EMBELLISHING WHEN HE LOST TEETH ON THE ICE

PETER DEBOER TALKED ABOUT KNIGHTS PLAYERS CHIRPING --- GALLANT FIRED BACK

DEBOER:

In fact, Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said Monday that it’s Vegas coach Gerard Gallant doing most of the talking right now.
Asked if the talk — particularly through the media — dying down recently between the two teams maybe works in the Sharks’ favor, DeBoer said, “I don’t know if it works in our favor. I mean, there’s still chatter. Their coach is chattering. He’s probably doing the most chattering. He’s talking to our players constantly during the game, which I haven’t seen before.
“That’s probably where most of the chatter’s coming from now. The players are playing.”
Towards Logan Couture?
“Yeah, ridiculous,” DeBoer said.
Couture, in his 10th NHL season, said he hasn’t had many coaches talk to him from the bench.
“There’s not many that will yell at players,” Couture said. “But we’re in the Stanley Cup playoffs. If they think this is going to help them win, let them do it.”
GERARD GALANT:

Vegas Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant blasted Pete DeBoer on Tuesday hours before Game 7 of the feisty first-round series for comments the Sharks coach made about Gallant talking to San Jose’s players during games.
“For that clown to say that in the paper yesterday, it’s not right,” said Gallant, who denied engaging in trash talk with Sharks players.
“Logan Couture, I thought it was an embellishment, so I’m yelling at the referee, not at Logan Couture,” Gallant said. “The other one, Game 2, Evander Kane’s yelling at Ryan Reaves between the bench, and Evander yells and me and says, “Hey coach, when are you going to send your big guy on the ice and play him, what, four minutes?” I said, “He’s played 10 minutes every game and he’s going to play a lot more.” (Those) are the two times.
“If I’m going to be a chirper and a loudmouth, I think people know me as a coach and respect me as a coach. If he’s going to yap about that, that’s a little unclassy for me.”

-WINNER WILL PLAY COLORADO

-HOME ICE: The Sharks are trying to win a best-of-7 series after trailing 3-1 for the first time in their history. Home teams have won Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs 58.1 percent of the time (100-72). San Jose is 6-4 in Game 7s, 3-1 at home.

JONES -CANT WIN LIKE THIS AGAIN - The Golden Knights had 44 shots in regulation and 59 through double overtime in Game 6. But they didn't have many on the rush and took a lot from the outside in a 2-1 loss, with goalie Martin Jones making 58 saves to set a Sharks record.

-LV GOOD SHOTS? "We need to get closer to [Jones], definitely make his life a little tougher," Golden Knights forward Jonathan Marchessault said. "Got to give him credit, he was good last game. But I think our quality of our shots needs to be better and be more inside the dots. Get in those dirty areas. There's no secret to playoff hockey."

-1ST GOALS: he team scoring the first goal has won each game in this series, and the team scoring first has won Game 7 74.4 percent of the time (128-44) in the playoffs.
Four times in this series the first goal has come in the first 1:16. Vegas scored 58 seconds into Game 2, 16 seconds into Game 3 and 1:11 into Game 4. San Jose scored 1:16 into Game 5.
GOALIES: Jones was solid in Game 1, struggled in Games 2-4, and was at his best in Games 5 and 6. Golden Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury had a 28-save shutout in Game 4 but hasn't been dominant.
Jones' save percentage in the series is .906; Fleury's is .912.
The last time San Jose played a Game 7, Jones had a 20-save shutout when the Sharks defeated the Nashville Predators 5-0 at SAP Center in the second round in 2016.
Fleury has won three Game 7s in his career, all on the road with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the last one, he had a 29-save shutout when the Penguins defeated the Washington Capitals 2-0 in the second round in 2017.
There is only one thing better than a Game 7, and that is winning Game 7.
The Sharks have played 10 such games in their history. They have won six —  3-3 on the road and 3-1 at The Tank. Sharks fans, don’t think for a second that you don’t make a difference.

KERR ON WESTBROOK NEXT QUESTION - DANGEROUS FOR THE LEAGUE

“I just feel that we have to be very careful as a league,” Kerr, a former TNT broadcaster, said of Westbrook’s approach and its potential spread. “We’re in a good place right now. Very popular. Fans love the game, the social dynamic, the fashion. But more than anything they love the connection they feel to the players. I think it’s important for the players to understand that it’s a key dynamic to this league. I don’t think this is a healthy dynamic, for this league, for any player, any team, any local media, any national media.”
In Kerr’s view, no communication is different in kind from simply uninspired answers.
“It’s all part of the business,” Kerr said. “You’ve got to feed information to the fans. You don’t have to give a great answer, but it’s dangerous when you go down that path of no communication because one of the reasons people like the league right now is we have a lot of great players, really good guys who handle themselves well. So don’t kill that. You’ve got to keep that going. That’s a big part of the business.”
