ULTIMATE TEAM RANKINGS: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17818447/royals-rangers-lead-mlb-teams-annual-rankings

-GIANTS 5 IN MLB / A'S
-WARRIORS 10 / 33 OVERALL
-RAIDERS 20/85, 49ERS 32/122 - LAST
-SHARKS

49ERS:

For a franchise with as much history and tradition as the 49ers, it's hard to believe they've sunk to this level -- dead last among 122 professional sports teams. It's the result of a lack of on-field success, the dysfunction that led to the departure of coach Jim Harbaugh (and the uninspired choice of Jim Tomsula as his replacement), and the overwhelming cost to watch it all unfold at Levi's Stadium. They dropped 76 spots in last year's rankings, and now, down 19 more, bottom out this year. At least now there's nowhere to go but up. --

49ERS:

-IF YOU WERE CHIP WOULD YOU STAY OR GO?

-KELLY: "I'm not going anywhere"

Stay:
-Still haven't proven if your system works
-Just completed first year w 49ers
-Don't have to deal with recruiting and bay sitting 18-21 year-olds.
-Likely don't get another NFL shot

Go:
-49ers seem like a long rebuild , how long will you last? 3 years?
-Big jobs at LSU, Oregon, Texas
-Make as much if not more $
-You are the CEO - See Jim Harbaugh
-Might be best as a college coach , no shame in that Nick Saban

The biggest issue: Do Trent and Chip Jive philosophies? Trent can't draft what 49ers need most - Chip's skill guys

Report: Baalke staying

JASON LA CANFORA:

You are going to hear a ton about San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly returning to college football in the coming weeks. A ton.
Especially as boosters at top NCAA programs start putting feelers out all over the place. You'll hear rumors about Jon Gruden and possibly Sean Payton as well (yes, even after just signing that long-term extension). With schools like LSU and Texasand Oregon and Penn State all possibly in that mix, it's going to heat up soon.
Kelly's offense continues to be ridiculed by his peers in the NFL, and several coaches I spoke to expect him to hit the eject seat button after this season and return to college before his stock continues to drop given the horrible roster he has in San Francisco.
"He just keeps running the same shit and it isn't fooling anybody," one NFL executive said. "Do you think they could bring him back to Oregon?"

RATINGS CONCERNS -

IS IS JUST BAD NOW?

WHY THE NFL RATINGS DROP: GOODELL SAYS THEY ARE TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT

THE POPULAR THEORIES:

-Too much of it (Thursday, Sunday, Monday plus all the college games)
-Product not as good
-Bad prime time games
-An election year
-Kap kneeling
-Streaming options for younger demo
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday that the league does not think it has lost viewers despite a 10 percent drop in television ratings this season.
At the same time, however, he acknowledged that league officials are trying to understand what has caused the drop and how to address it.
Speaking after the league's fall meeting in Houston, Goodell said it is important not just to get viewers tuned in but also to "get them to stay tuned in" to game broadcasts.
"There a lot of factors to be considered. We don't make excuses. We try to figure out what's changing."
Roger Goodell, on drop in NFL's ratings this season
"When you look at ratings you have to go deeper than that," Goodell said. "It's viewers, but also how long they're engaging for, and a lot of times, people will leave a game for whatever reason, whether it's to go to other programming or whether the game is not that competitive."
Goodell said neither he nor the league's broadcast partners believe player protests of the national anthem have played a role in the drop. But he did note a relative lack of competitive games in prime time and the contentious presidential election and debate schedule as partial explanations.

MLB:

-How did the Dodgers take 20 foot leads nd not steal Jon Lester blind? The Royals did it.... and how can he not throw to first --- He bounces it to Rizzo .....Indians can run.... and will....

-If your the Indians do you let Charlie Sheen, as Ricky Vaughhn, throw out the first pitch?

Sheen responded to the demand Thursday on Twitter, posting a photo of himself as Vaughn in his Indians uniform and writing, “Major League continues to be the gift that keeps on giving! if called upon, I’d be honored.”

MLB says no thanks

-If I'm the Cubs I'm pissed at the ASG costing me home field if I get there....

-BTW the Cubs are a long way from the WS....Kershaw and Hill away.....It was 3-2 Cubs coming home in 2003 .... It would be very Cubs to lose this and stain all these young guys for life

-WTF was BYu doing from their own goaline on 4-19 running a fake punt running play w the punter? Only to lose to Boise State 28-27

Facing fourth-and-19 from its 5-yard line in the second quarter against No. 14 Boise State, BYU faced what should have been the easiest call of the night: It was time to punt.
Except, the Cougars did not punt. Again, fourth-and-19 from their 5, and they did not punt.
Instead, they snapped it to punter Jonny Linehan in the end zone and he attempted to run for a first down. He was tackled for a 3-yard loss.
Luckily for BYU, however, Boise State committed a personal foul after the play and missed a field goal attempt on the ensuing drive. The Broncos went on to win in dramatic fashion 28-27, improving to 7-0.
BYU coach Kalani Sitake offered the following explanation before heading to the locker room at halftime: “Well, on film we thought we had it. We wanted to be aggressive. We came to win the game and it just didn’t work out. They made a great adjustment -- something that we haven’t seen in prior games. But we wanted to be aggressive and it didn’t hurt us. Our defense had our backs."
