Mets/ Dodgers series:

Bochy considering rotation change for Dodgers series

Bochy said the staff will discuss altering the rotation and skipping Matt Cain's next start. That would line up Madison Bumgarner, Johnny Cueto and Matt Moore against the Dodgers next week in Los Angeles. Bumgarner and Cueto will face them either way, but throwing a second lefty against the Dodgers could be big. Most of their best hitters -- Cory Seager, Chase Utley, Adrian Gonzalez, Joc Pederson -- hit from the left side

--Barrows: Baalke says no truth to PFT report, Kap out for Sunday

Looking ahead, there has been speculation the 49ers could make Kaepernick inactive during each game of the regular season, which would eliminate the risk of potentially paying his $14.5 million 2017 base salary, which is guaranteed for injury.
Asked about such a scenario, Baalke said “no facts point to that.” He was subsequently asked if Kaepernick would be active on game days if he proved to be the second-best quarterback on the roster.
“None of those decisions have been made yet,” Baalke said. “Nor are we prepared to make those decisions one week into the preseason. We’re going to evaluate this team each and every week and things are fluid. You’re going to make the best decisions you can at the time you make them. Right now, we want him healthy.”

RAIDERS AT PACKERS:

DARREN SHARPER GETS 18 YEARS --STILL NOT ENOUGH:

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Latest on sentencing for ex-NFL star Darren Sharper (all times local):
11:45 a.m.
The federal judge who more than doubled former NFL star Darren Sharper's prison sentence told him that courts cannot ignore the damage he inflicted on women and on society at large.
U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo (TREESH mil-AH-zoh) had rejected a multistate plea agreement's 9-year sentence as too short. She sentenced Sharper on Thursday to 18 years and four months, and a $20,000 fine.
Before handing down the sentence, the judge told him she could never understand "how you arrived at this place," since he is educated and obviously grew up "in one of the most loving households."
He pleaded guilty in federal court to drugging three women so he could rape them. He has also pleaded guilty or no contest in state courts in Louisiana, Arizona, California and Nevada. He's accused of drugging and raping as many as 16 women in those four states.

OLYMPICS:

-WTF RYAN LOCHTE?

Brazilian police say American swimmers were not robbed at gunpoint at a gas station as they claimed, but a law enforcement official did say a security guard used a gun to control the situation involving Ryan Lochte, Jimmy Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz.
Brazilian police had previously said no gun was involved. The change in the version of events came after police interviewed one of the security guards on Thursday. It further deepened the mystery of what happened inside the station and set off an international dispute.
"No robbery was committed against these athletes. They were not victims of the crimes they claimed," Civil Police chief Fernando Veloso said during an afternoon news conference Thursday.
Veloso said the swimmers vandalized the bathroom on the side of the gas station, damaging mirrors and other property. No charges have been filed, Veloso said, but the swimmers could be charged with false communication of a crime and vandalism if the investigation concludes that they did something wrong. If they cooperate, Veloso said he sees no reason for them to stay in Brazil.
He said surveillance video shows that employees of the gas station tried to control the situation but that the swimmers went to their taxi and tried to get away.

-LeBron says Jordan gets too much credit for Bulls titles

Speaking of Jordan, James said he along with Ken Griffey Jr. and Deion Sanders were the players he looked up to most as a child. However, James also suggested Jordan gets too much credit sometimes for the six championships the Bulls won with him, or at least Scottie Pippen and other role players do not get enough credit.

-Would you get in a self driving UBER?

It turns out Uber has been making very rapid progress on its plan to replace its one million-plus drivers with computers. Bad news if you’re an Uber driver…
In an interview with Bloomberg, CEO Travis Kalanick revealed that the company is preparing to add self-driving cars to its fleet of active drivers in Pittsburgh as soon as this month.
The company will deploy around 100 modified Volvo XC90s outfitted with self-driving equipment. Each vehicle will be staffed by one engineer, who can take the wheel as/when needed, and a co-pilot to observe and take notes. There will also be a “liquid-cooled” computer sitting in the trunk recording trip and map data.
